Takeaways

  • Activity slowed across the board for Forgiveness over the last week. In terms of responses from the SBA, week-over-week growth was just 8%, compared to 33% in the previous report. A combination of stimulus negotiations unfolding on Capitol Hill and the Holiday Season rapidly closing in likely had some effect on the rate at which Forgiveness applications were started, submitted, and responded to.
  • Applications started by borrowers continue to weigh heavily to the light-weight Form 3508S. The slimmed down form now accounts for 40% of all applications that have been started by borrowers.
  • The majority of partial requests for Forgiveness continue to mostly be due to EIDL Advances. Last week the split was 50/50 for net new applications. This week, nearly 60% of all partial-Forgiveness requests were due to EIDL Advances.
